Dunphy Consulting Services
Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.
Q: Are you looking for receiving insight and indulging in the fun of receiving peer and instructor feedback on your writing?
A: WRITING WORKSHOPS
Maureen has over 20 years of experience in leading prose workshops for authors and adult writers.
For the past 10 years, she has facilitated the writing workshop “Getting There from Here,” a goal-driven and accountability approach to improving the quantity and quality of your writing.
This six-week workshop is currently offered virtually through Springfed Arts three times a year.
Share your work in progress with a supportive peer group while practicing walking the paths taken by successful writers.

Q: Are you looking for individual support to take your writing to a new level or to complete a specific writing project?
Maureen offers one-on-one coaching–via Zoom, by phone, or in-person–to help you achieve your personal or professional writing goals.
Could you benefit from a writing coach?
You could benefit from a writing coach if:
- You want to write, but you aren’t writing
- You want to write, but you don’t know what to write
- You want to write, but you don’t know how to write
- You think there is something you should write, but you haven’t written it
- You have a writing dream that you are writing toward, but you are not yet holding that dream manifested as a completed work in your hands.
How can a writing coach help you?
As your writing coach, I assist you in you manifesting your writing dreams by:
- Helping you define your writing project
- Providing you with a process to set realistic and achievable writing goals
- Supplying you with the tools to meet your writing goals
- Maintaining an accountability structure for you
Why am I suited to do this for you?
I currently teach “Advanced Prose” (fiction and memoir) and two sessions of “Getting There from Here,” writing workshops for Springfed Arts in Royal Oak and—through Dunphy Consulting Services—coach writers one-on-one and provide editing services for individuals and institutions.
I have taught fiction workshop courses at Oakland University and the University of Windsor and creative writing courses at Oakland Community College—Orchard Ridge, as well as writing workshops at Lost Lake Writer’s Retreat, Far Field Writer’s Retreat, Clockhouse Writer’s Retreat and in the Irish Hills and on Pelee Island.
My new book, Divining, a Memoir in Trees, a book of essays, will be released by Wayne State University Press in February 2023. My first non-fiction book, Great Lakes Island Escapes: Ferries and Bridges to Adventure, a 2017 Michigan Notable Book, was published by Wayne State University Press in 2016 and won the Midwest Book Award for Recreation/Sports/Travel and the Next Generation Indie Book Award for Travel/Travel Guide. All About the Great Lakes (juvenile nonfiction) was published by Blue River Press in the summer of 2020.
I have also published poetry in Beyond the Lines: Writing What You Couldn’t Say, fiction in Bear River Review, and non-fiction in Peninsula: Essays and Memoirs from Michigan.
